We need to take advantage of this crisis - NOW is time to get things done that we thought we could not do before!!!!!

NOW is the time to pressure Sacramento for gaming at the tracks. The State of California is about to go bankrupt, with no real ideas to end the problem.  Think of the jobs which would be created by this, not to mention the revenue to the city, county and California.

Gaming at the tracks would help remedy the problem.  If we had gaming at the tracks, we wouldn't need to protect them from destruction by developers.  The indian tribes should NOT have a MONOPOLY on gaming in the State - they are not helping - where is all that tax revenue that was promised?  And in case you are not aware, the Indians are now SUING CHARITIES for using electronic bingo machines.

The California Legislative Counsel issued an opinion on June 21, 2006.
They said: "Instant Racing machines are no more slot machines than the machines currently used to place bets on live horse races." They go on to say that there is no requirement in the CA Constitution that horse races be live in order to wager on them and that they may be regulated by the State Legislature. In other words, the Legislature only has to approve the bill to make it law.

The CA Legislature needs to find ways to bring in money to the State, Gaming is a way to do it. The CA Legislature needs to allow instant racing games at the tracks, effective IMMEDIATELY.

By keeping gaming limited to EXISITING gambling venues, the public will not have to worry about the "slot machine in the grocery store" scenario. Keep it tied to horse racing, as this benefits the enitre horse industry and all connected industries immensely up and down the State - an already $5 BILLION industry.  IT'S ABOUT THE ECONOMY!

We are a grassroots organization interested in preserving Hollywood Park for all time.  It is our understanding that the City of Inglewood and the current owner of Hollywood Park have plans to develop the property into a low-end retail facility (i.e.  discount stores, fast food, etc.).  If Inglewood would like to better the quality of life for it's residents - as it has a responsibilty to do - building the faceless, low-end retail establishments does not seem like the best choice.

We believe the City of Inglewood, County of Los Angeles, State of California and the entire nation have a treasure right here in Inglewood.  From the famous racehorses who raced here and who are memorialized here, to the famous people who orginally founded it, Hollywood Park is worth preserving.    If you have never visited, it is a MUST SEE, whether you have lived here all your life, or are just visiting.

This site has been created to promote the preservation and continued operation of the historic Hollywood Park.  For  over 70 years, Hollywood Park has brought excitement, history-making racing, and beauty to Southern California.  Let's keep it going for another 70 years!!
